Banner Health facilities will enforce seasonal visitor restrictions starting Sunday, responding to the heightened risk of flu and respiratory viruses. These measures will apply across all Banner hospitals in six states, including Arizona.
Under the policy, visitors exhibiting symptoms such as fever, cough, vomiting, or diarrhea will be prohibited, as will most visitors under 13. However, healthy siblings of newborns may visit obstetrics or pediatric units, subject to screening by hospital staff.
Joan Ivaska, Executive Director of Infection Prevention at Banner Health, emphasized the importance of these precautions:
“We implement hospital restrictions during this time of year to keep everyone safe and help prevent the spread of infection.”
Additional measures include requiring children under 13 to remain under adult supervision in public areas and encouraging visitors to frequently wash or sanitize their hands.
As flu season escalates, Banner Health’s proactive restrictions aim to safeguard patients, staff, and the community.
