Arrest Made in San Leandro Barbershop Murder Following Oakland Maserati Chase

On October 27, California Highway Patrol announced the arrest of a man suspected of killing a San Leandro barber in Oakland after a police chase. The suspect, 26-year-old Alexis Garcia, was discovered sleeping in a Maserati by police before being taken into custody.

The murder occurred on October 25 at Harrison Brothers barbershop, situated at 2240 E. 14th St. in San Leandro. During the incident, a barber was killed, and a client was shot and injured.

CHP officers in the Oakland division spotted Garcia and another individual asleep in the luxurious car at an undisclosed location on Monday, according to police. Allegedly, the passenger had a handgun in his lap.

Upon waking and noticing the officers, the occupants fled, as per CHP. The driver eventually abandoned the vehicle and tried to escape on foot but was apprehended by CHP officers. The passenger was also detained.

The San Leandro Police Department arrived and confirmed the identity of the arrestee as Garcia. Police confiscated two guns found inside the suspect’s car.

Garcia and the unidentified passenger were booked into jail on charges including evading arrest, possession of firearms, drug possession, and offenses related to the barbershop shooting.
