This case highlights the tragic murder of Enfinnity Hayes, a 22-year-old Pensacola native, at the hands of her husband, Army soldier Cameron Lawson. Convicted in Geary County, Kansas, Lawson was found guilty of first-degree premeditated murder for orchestrating the murder of his wife in October 2021.

He is set to be sentenced on December 20, 2024, and faces a potential 50 years to life in prison.

Lawson, who was stationed at Fort Riley in Kansas at the time, and Hayes, both graduates of Escambia High School, had been married since 2020 and had recently welcomed a child.

Hayes’ family remembers her as a joyful, kind-hearted person who loved life and was excited about motherhood.

The incident occurred at Milford State Park, where Lawson initially claimed a gunman demanded money and shot Hayes. However, after further investigation, deputies arrested Lawson in July 2022 and Jonathan Franklin a month later.

Authorities concluded that Lawson and Franklin had conspired to stage the murder as a robbery, with insurance money reportedly being the motive. Franklin accepted a plea deal and is currently serving time in a Kansas prison.
