DOVER — Andrew Kennedy, one of four Democrats running for three seats in the New Hampshire House representing Madbury, Lee, and Dover Ward 4, has decided to end his campaign.
Kennedy, a former state representative from Manchester known as Andrew Bouldin, has been in the news due to an investigation by the Manchester Police Department in 2023. Although a police report was obtained by Foster’s Daily Democrat and Seacoastonline, Kennedy was never charged.
Kennedy denies any wrongdoing and has chosen to suspend his campaign to focus on his family. He said, “My wife and I have been at Mass General Hospital since July 25th with our premature baby in the NICU. I don’t want to involve them in this political situation.” He also mentioned that he took his wife’s name after getting remarried.
Despite his withdrawal, Kennedy’s name will still be on the ballot on Tuesday, Sept. 10, in Dover Ward 4, Lee, and Madbury.
With Kennedy out, the Democratic primary for Strafford County District 11 now has three uncontested candidates: incumbents Erik Johnson, Thomas Southworth, and Janet Wall. Johnson is seeking his second term, Southworth his sixth, and Wall her 20th.
Republicans Joe Bazo, Denis Grenier, and Bill Taylor have no primary challengers. The three Democratic candidates are expected to win in the November election in this predominantly Democratic district.
