On Oct. 15, 2021, North Little Rock High School named senior maid Shaliyah Johnson as the Homecoming Queen for the 2021-2022 school year. Johnson was visibly surprised as her name was announced for queen. According to an Instagram post made by Shaliyah Johnson she says “First and foremost I am so honored to have been on the court with each and every single one of these beautiful young ladies. I want to thank the students, teachers, staff, and administration, and everyone who contributed to this special event. I also give a special thanks to my parents who have by far out done themselves. Thank you Mrs. Rogers for being such a sweet and positive leader. This has definitely made my senior year top tier, always and forever a wildcat.” The homecoming pep rally took place in the North Little Rock High School Arena. Despite the current pandemic, the Student Council managed to have an event for the students called “Battle of the Classes” which consisted of games such as; musical chairs, a Tik Tok dance battle, and a lipdub. There were also performances from the Varsity Cheer Team, the Varsity Dance Team, and the Junior Varsity Cheer Team. Though the pep rally had to be live streamed due to COVID restrictions, it was still a success. Later that evening, the Charging Wildcats proved triumphant over the Little Rock Catholic Rockets with a score 42 to 7. The following Saturday, the homecoming dance was held in the North Little Rock High School cafeteria resulting in a successful homecoming weekend.
