As another football season begins, ongoing COVID-19 restrictions continue because of the lasting pandemic. Even though we have a new team that is currently undefeated, there are still concerns about seating and security to make sure people stay safe and healthy while supporting the Wildcats.

Many fans come out every Friday to support the Wildcats. COVID-19 restrictions are still enforced but not as strict as last season.

Athletic director Gary Davis shares some information regarding the rest of the season. Last year, the team had to miss out on their game with Little Rock Southwest because of COVID issues. Davis hopes this year will not be the same. Davis says, “I’d like to have sell out crowds.” While everyone loves football games, the goal is to make sure everyone is safe at the games. He also states, “We encourage alternate row seating.” Seating areas in the Wildcat stadium have yellow dots on them to promote spaced seating.

Senior defensive linebacker Marcus Stovall also has clear goals for the team amidst the challenges of the pandemic. Stovall says, “[We want to] make it to state and go undefeated.”

The Wildcats love all the support given to them. Stovall also states, “Having more people in the stands helps the team play better and provides more support.” All in all, players, fans, and coaches are hoping for a great season for the Wildcats and a safe year for everybody.
