Local Church Helps Pay for Seniors’ Grad Gear

Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church Youth Minister Timira Winbush is reaching out to North Little Rock High School seniors to pay for their graduation gear.

Winbush says, “I want to help in every way possible to make sure our seniors are enjoying themselves even with COVID going on.”

Between COVID and many other changes, the seniors have had a rough year. Wesley Chapel wants to help.

“Wesley Chapel cares for their members, especially youth. With COVID cases rising, we thought we would help make the best out of the class of 2021’s senior year,” says Winbush.

Seniors were sent a Google form in mid-January to sign up for an opportunity to have their cap and gown covered. Students will be chosen based on their financial need. Graduation gear must be ordered by February 12.

I joined the newspaper because I wanted to be on a platform where students can voice their opinions and ideas. I also wanted to improve my skills as a journalist and writer. My goals for the Blue & Gold Gazette are to, as a student journalist, be able to fully express ideas, opinions, and writing skills while gathering the ability to formulate and produce stories for the public. A fun fact about myself is that I love watching Marvel movies.
